Reese Witherspoon started seriously pursuing acting when she was enrolled at Stanford University. In her early career, she had roles in movies like Pleasantville or Election. However, it was Elle Woods' portrayal in Legally Blonde which marked a significant turning point. Witherspoon's role as Elle Woods in Walk the Line earned her an Academy Award nomination in 2005. Water for Elephants This Means War was among the latest films she starred in. The film also earned the actress another Oscar nomination. Witherspoon is also a hit on the television screen, having was a co-star and producer on David E. Kelley's award-winning TV program Big Little Lies. Witherspoon is the daughter of a physician and a nurse. The birth of her daughter was to Laura Jean Reese Witherspoon March 22 1976, in New Orleans Louisiana. The parents of Witherspoon are a medical doctor and an registered nurse. The actress grew up in Nashville, TN as the debutante of her school as well as Harpeth Hall. A bit of randomness in 1991 Witherspoon answered a call to be an extra in her local newspaper. At the time, she was just 14 years old when she got the part of the main role on the film The Man in the Moon. Witherspoon was so inclined to give up acting in her first year following high school that she considered pursuing a career in medicine. In 2003 she debuted as a film star with The Invisible Man. From there she was able to make appearances on a range of television shows such as House of Lies Whitney and Better Call Saul. She also appeared as a character in The Dictator (1998) and The Incredible Burt Wonderstone (2006). She is an accomplished painter and artist in addition to being a successful actress.
