April Ross
April Ross, a beach volleyball star from the United States, is among a select category of females who have had medals won in multiple Olympics. In Tokyo during the next few days, she'll try to win her third gold medal with fellow first-time Olympian Alix Klineman. Ross's goal is to win her first Olympic Gold. It could be the last time she has the chance to do so at the age of 39. Nevertheless she is confident that the top awards are within reach. Ross said on NBC Boston that if they perform at their very best, and even play well and they are able to play well, the team will be able to win the gold medal. Therefore, I'm hoping to have the chance as well. Ross was a Californian born in Costa Mesa, California in 1982. She lived here along with her parents and younger sister. Ross was a competitive athlete in a variety of sports while attending Newport Harbor High School. As a prep-athlete she was also a participant in indoor volleyball and track. She was definitely superior to the rest in this latter game. According to her bio, during high school she played volleyball as an outside setter (middle blocker) as well as a setter (outside blocker). She was named by the Gatorade National Circle of Champions Player of the year in 1999, for her performance. The 2000 Orange County Athlete of the Month award was also won by her due to her volleyball skills. Ross and Klineman may be working on a project in 2017, but Ross was an experienced player at the beach before they joined forces. She has won major events twice, with various partners. The other has become an icon in the volleyball world. Jennifer Kessy coached her from 2007 to the year 2013. Kessy was Ross's partner on the World Championships in 2009. The duo eventually captured a silver medal at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Misty Maytreanor (Jennings) and Misty Maytreanor clinched gold overtaking them. The fate of the matter was that Ross became Walsh Jennings' new partner after May-Treanor's retirement. They both went on to take home the bronze medal in beach volleyball at Rio Olympics in 2016 along with Walsh Jennings. Ross began her college career with the USC Trojans after high school. It was a long time before Ross hit the beach and became a pro. Ross's playing time with the Trojans was remarkable. She was a All-American as well as Pac-10 Freshman of Year in the year 2000, a young freshman. In addition, she helped her Trojans get to the Final Four. Her personal tragedy was a crushing loss in her sophomore season and yet she went on to repeat her place as an All-American. Over her final two years as a player, she led the Trojans up to the top of the mountain netting consecutive national championships. In 2003-2004, she was named the top female volleyball player at a collegiate level in the United States by the Honda Sports Award. Ross studied international relations at USC. Margie Ross did not get to watch her daughter's climb to fame as a beach volleyball player. Ross suffered the loss of her mother to breast cancer in 2001. Ross was then a sophomore. As a result, Ross remains close to her deceased parent. Margie is a beach lover as well as in everyday life, inspires her.
